Service |
| No
one does service better across Montana. Our large staff of
technicians are the best trained in the state; all of our journeyman
IBEW member technicians have years of experience and are NICET
tested for their qualifications to work on vital life-safety
systems. We also have Siemon certified system technicians for
Category 5-6-7 fiber optics, tele/data systems. Besides these
programs, we require all of our technicians to be involved
in ongoing
distributor
training that we feel is necessitated by the technologies used
to modern systems.
With technicians
living in five of Montana's major population centers, we
are able to dispatch capable personnel to service your systems
as needed. We support what we sell both with inventory and
staff. Whether your requirements are for new equipment installation,
upgrading of existing equipment, or repair of systems, our
technicians are ready.
Since the
early 1980's Northern Fire & Communication has been setting
the standard for service. We not only maintain what we install
but often are called upon to fix what others have installed;
we are experienced with most low-voltage manufacturers and
types of systems. Contact us for
your service needs.

Technical
Support |
| In
days of technological acceleration, Northern Fire & Communication
is your link to past, present and future. We spend hundreds
of hours each year keeping current on what is going on in
the market so to be able to provide our clients with timely
information.
We know
that not everything that is new is worth your attention.
We recognize that it takes wisdom to sort through the buzzwords
and find the worthwhile content. And we do just that.
Through
technical research by our staff, we make available to our
customers the most comprehensive system assessments available.
We don't try to sell you what doesn't work; we go the distance
for our customers in endeavoring to meet their needs with
the appropriate equipment.
A major
portion of our business is renovations and upgrades of existing
systems; they don't always need to be replaced to remain
reliable and serviceable. Contact

may be able to help you save time, the system, and your money.

Fire
Alarm Inspection |
| While
system installations is our largest volume producer, we strive
to take the time to annually service installed systems. Whether
its helping program clocks when the time or schedules change
or regular inspections of system operations, we want to be
available to help with the maintenance of systems.
One area
that many installers avoid is the annual fire alarm system
inspection. Legal necessities mandate annual inspections
of fire alarm systems in some facilities (such as hospitals,
nursing homes, residential care facilities). In some jurisdictions
this may be performed by the owner's staff but even there,
the technicalities and liabilities indicate that a thoroughly
professional evaluation, test and certification of the fire
alarm system is a responsible act to provide for the welfare
of the users of any facility.
Depending
on the system, the inspection may require sensitivity testing
of every device; this requires specialized equipment which
is not affordable for the limited service that most owners
would have. We not only have purchased the correct equipment
but have a fully trained staff who are able to efficiently
inspect the system as required and provide the owner with
a complete report on the system's operation. Whether we installed
the system or the work was done by others, we can provide
the certification required by the State of Montana for residential
facilities.
Current
requirements are for annual inspections with sensitivity
testing every two years. Penalties for noncompliance far
outweigh the cost savings on trying to skip this service.
Jurisdictions having authority are also adopting stricter
requirements because of the liabilities when alarm systems
do not function appropriately during a true alarm.
An inspection
also can be a cost saver as part of a maintenance program
because it will often catch a potential problem and allow
for non-emergency resolution of any problem. With each inspection,
the facility receives an Inspection Report enumerating the
status of all devices and indicating any areas of deficiency
or concern.
We schedule
Fire Alarm System Inspections to meet your schedule of operations
and try to group inspections in an area to reduce your costs
for travel to your site. Please contact our
Service Manager for details on fire alarm inspection.

Central
Monitoring |
| During
1997 because of several requests by valued clients, Northern
Fire & Communication researched central station monitoring
service. When we found a reputable service that meet our
criteria for excellence and value, we began offering this
service to our customers.
The Central
Station we choose met the UL-certified criteria required
in some governmental licensing of facilities. This ensures
that the monitoring station has redundant systems, personnel
and communication lines so that the monitoring station has
the best degree of service reliability that can be established.
With laws
changing to require UL-certified monitoring of of specific
residential facilities, we are confident that the service
we represent is the best value available for our customers.
We have packaged a basic fire alarm system monitoring service
for an annual fee. Our package includes daily system integrity
testing under the UL guidelines for this type of system.
It requires the client to make available two phone lines
for use by the monitoring communicator when called for. The
monitoring package only includes the central station monitoring
and relies on the client to designate "responsible parties" which
are to be contacted when an alarm is received. Usually for
fire alarm system monitoring, the first "responsible
party" for a fire system alarm is the appropriate fire
department, and then any owner's representatives so designated.
We do sell
and install digital communications which are suitable for
interface between most fire alarm system panels and owner
provided phone lines. These sales and installations are reasonably
priced and feature UL-approved interfaces. The monitoring
does include only the monitoring; the facility must have
a reliable fire alarm system to be monitored.
Other central
station monitoring services are available such as for access
control, ADA elevator two-way emergency telephones, environmental
monitoring, visual monitoring upon signal alarm and other
innovative answers to specific applications. Prices vary
upward from our basic system package but are always a value
when considered with what is provided.
Contact our
Service Manager for details on central monitoring.
